The Indian equity market ended on a flat note on February 23, 2024 amid volatility. At close, Sensex shed 15 points at 73,142.80 while Nifty slipped 4 points and ended the session at 22,212.70.
Around 1367 stocks advanced and 1181 declined while 113 stocks remained unchanged.
Among the sectors, the media and realty index added a percent each followed by the pharma index which gained 0.5 percent. On the other hand, selling was witnessed in PSU Bank, oil & gas and metal space.

Asia-Pacific markets were mostly higher on Friday. China stocks rose for the ninth straight session as investors digested property prices data. South Korea’s Kospi ended 0.13% higher at 2,667.70, while the smaller-cap Kosdaq closed 0.18% lower at 868.57. In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.43% higher at 7,643.60, according to a CNBC.com report.
European shares edged up on Friday in choppy trading as gains in heavy-weight banks following Standard Chartered’s strong earnings report were nearly offset by a drop in telecom stocks, ahead of remarks from European Central Bank policymakers, according to a Reuters report.
At 4 PM IST, FTSE added 0.07 percent at 7,689.83 while CAC was up 0.26 percent at 7,931.82. The German DAX shed 0.03 percent at 17,364.74.
